When I moved to NYC on April 1st I set 3 goals for myself:
- Take advantage of living in the greatest city in the world.
- Work relentlessly to grow my career
- Consistently stay active
I wrote this out on a post-it and stuck it to the side of my bed so it would be the first thing I see each day.
These first 5 months have allowed me to experience a great deal, both professionally and personally. I led my team in client based requests, automated a majority of our workflows, and built my first website. I’ve developed friendships that will last a lifetime, watched the city come alive as I watched my childhood team, The New York Knicks win it all, and have gone on some of the most amazing runs to explore new neighborhoods throughout the city.
It’s a solid start, but I know I can do more to take advantage of being here. Part of that push originated from following your journey building StoryArb. Watching you organically take an idea and actually pursue it made me wonder what I could accomplish myself.

To be honest, when I was reading those tweets two years ago, I only dreamed of being able to do something like creating StoryArb. I viewed your level of success as something that wouldn’t be possible for a guy like me.

But as I have progressed in my career and started to build a life in NYC I’ve slowly gained the confidence to take my bigger ambitions seriously. I don’t know what my StoryArb looks like yet, but I’m starting to believe I could build something of my own. That’s why I have written a new, more specific set of goals:
- Reach out to one person I can learn from each week. Start with Alex Lieberman.
- Set aside at least 30 minutes per day dedicated to learning/developing an AI related skill
- Explore one new part of NYC on a run each week.

If you happen to have 15 minutes, either in person, or online I would love to pick your brain about what I can do to do help take those next steps.
